Last week, Donald Trump warned that the Armed Forces “will very soon begin” to detain “Venezuela drug traffickers” on land, following operations at sea.
The President of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, will meet, this Monday, the national security council to discuss the said White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.
According to the same source, cited by the Associated Press (AP) news agency, the meeting will serve to discuss, among other matters, the attacks by the United States, since September, against vessels suspected of transporting drugs off the coast of Venezuela.
Since the summer, the United States has maintained a naval and air detachment in the Caribbean Sea, in waters close to Venezuela, which it defends as part of its strategy to combat drug trafficking, but which Caracas considers a “threat” aimed at provoking a change of government.
Since September 1, US forces have killed more than 80 people while destroying more than 20 vessels allegedly linked to drug trafficking, mostly from Venezuela, in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific.
And on Saturday, Trump warned that Venezuela’s airspace should be considered “totally closed.”
