National Assembly creates special commission to investigate operations ordered by Trump against ships; American government says vessels were used for trafficking

The National Assembly of Venezuela will create a special commission to investigate attacks by the United States against boats that, according to the American government, were used for drug trafficking. The announcement was made on Sunday (November 30, 2025) by the president of the legislative body, Jorge Rodríguez, during a speech on state television.

The investigation will analyze a publication by Washington Post on Friday (28.Nov.2025). The report showed that US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth determined the death of all crew members on one of the vessels during an attack in September. Rodríguez informed that the Venezuelan Public Ministry will participate in the investigation.

In recent months, the United States has carried out a series of attacks against vessels that, according to the American government, were carrying out drug trafficking in the region. Nicolás Maduro’s government denies involvement in criminal activities and says that the Americans are trying to bring about regime change to control Venezuela’s oil reserves.
