After weekend negotiations in Florida between the USA and Ukraine, Donald Trump considered that there is a “good chance” of reaching an agreement to end the war. Zelensky thanked the US for “the time they are dedicating with such intensity” and the constructive tone of the conversation. A small step towards peace?

The American president, Donald Trumpconsidered this Saturday that there are “good chances” of reaching an agreement to put an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, following the negotiations between a North American and Ukrainian delegation that took place this weekend in Florida.

“I think Russia would like this to end, and I think Ukraine, I know the Ukraine would like this to end”, declared Donald Trump aboard the presidential plane Air Force One.

After the meeting, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskywhich on Saturday said it was feasible to achieve , emphasized the constructive tone of the dialogue between the parties and the fact that Ukraine’s interests had been addressed.

The Ukrainian head of state, who wrote his message after being informed about what he called “the main parameters of the dialogue, the highlights and some results”, specified that expects a “full report” of the delegation, which will be given to you in a private meeting.

At the meeting held in Florida between the delegation led by Rustem Umerov and the group of US representatives, headed by the US Secretary of State Marco Rubioboth sides discussed the peace plan to end the war, started by the Russian invasion in February 2022.

The conversations were considered “productive” by Rubio, who, however, warned that “there is still work to be done” to reach an agreement.

An American official told the AFP news agency that the White House special envoy, Steve Witkoffleaves this Monday for Moscow, with the aim of continuing negotiations with Russia on Washington’s plan to end the war in Ukraine.
