Senator called Lula’s nominee a “political militant and compared the PT administration to the Maduro government in Venezuela
The senator (PL-AC) announced this Monday (Dec 1, 2025) that it will vote against the nomination of Jorge Messias to the (Supremo Tribunal Federal). “The chance of me voting for the Messiah is zero”he said. He called the current attorney general of the Union “political activist”. He made the statement during a conversation with journalists in the Senate.
“I cannot agree with someone who is much more of a political activist than someone who takes care of his professional activity”declared Bittar. In the senator’s assessment, the current tension in the relationship between the Legislative and Executive is a “clear perception of bankruptcy” of the current government.
“If it depends on Lula, they will transform the STF into what Maduro did in Venezuela: a house of friends, highly ideological”he stated.
The Saturday in CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission) of Jorge Messias is scheduled for , as calendar decided by the president of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP). The hearing is the initial step towards voting in the House Plenary. The government tries to postpone it by a week to save time (understand this).
