Pavel Bruchala (48) is a person who has undergone a significant career transformation. He became known primarily from his work at TV Markíza, where he moderated shows such as Teleráno, Zlatý dážď or Reflex. More than 10 years ago, he evaporated from the screens and began to devote himself to his passion – traveling. Why he decided to quit television when he was one of the most popular presenters, he openly admitted in the project.
“I moderated Reflex until 2014, and then I made a decision. Because I had some feelings of my own in connection with Markíza, that they did not respect me, did not communicate well, and I did not feel the support from the television for all that I, in turn, did for the television. These are the paradoxes that you are very popular, television from you, in the good sense of the word lives, because I am the product on the market. Plus I lost money because they cut my salary,” explained Bruchala.
What was happening then? “There were situations that terribly disappointed me, because I think I’m a very fair person and when I’m fair to someone, I want him to be fair and honest too, and I didn’t feel that,” he added.
However, these were not the only problems. According to Bruchala, as a trained actor, he also felt envy from his fellow actors, who pushed him away because he worked on television and was often asked how much he earns. “I didn’t go into television because I’m a bad actor or I don’t know how to act, but it was another opportunity that I got. It was a time when none of these actors, my colleagues, who are now big stars on television, just didn’t have any series and they didn’t have that many options,” he said.
The era of series came, and the first one that Markíza filmed was the Office in the Rose Garden. “I also wanted to play in them, but the television itself said no, because people perceive me as a presenter and they want to divide it, because it will be wrong in the viewer’s head. I felt envious of my own television, I will never understand that. If I had television and I have people there who are mega successful and popular, then it will build on that. I just felt the complexity of some people from the management who couldn’t understand that Bruchala is popular… But that’s why you chose him,” concluded the ex-moderator.
