I stopped adding it to white laundry and my clothes no longer turn gray

White things are difficult to keep clean and probably each of us will admit that. Even the smallest stains can be seen very quickly, and over time they turn gray and, unfortunately, lose their original appearance. Of course, the key to maintaining the aesthetic appearance of white clothes is washing them regularly and properly. And here a big problem often arises, because it may happen that the more often we wash our light clothes, the faster they lose their snow-white color. This is the fault of a popular detergent which, when added to the laundry in excess, causes stains, and this, of course, is most clearly visible on white fabric. And as a result, instead of white blouses and shirts, we only have gray ones. Well, contrary to appearances, using too much washing powder may have the opposite effect than expected. That’s why I definitely limited the use of powder and my clothes don’t turn gray.

Why do white clothes turn gray when washed?

During each wash, particles of dirt, sweat, grease and detergent float in the water. If the washing machine is not clean or you use too much detergent, these particles can settle on the fibers of white clothes, gradually turning them gray. Unrinsed detergent acts as a dirt magnet. It is also worth paying attention to the washing temperature. Washing at too low a temperature may not remove all dirt, which leads to its accumulation on fabrics. there is also hard water. It contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which can react with detergents and create deposits on clothes. These deposits cause graying over time.

How to wash white clothes to prevent them from turning gray?

Are you wondering how to keep them from turning gray and perfectly clean? It is worth using baking soda for this. This powder will perfectly cope with the worst stains and will restore white fabrics to their original color. Before you put your white clothes into the washing machine, add baking soda. If you want to get rid of stains and enhance the effect, add the juice of half a lemon. After half an hour, throw the clothes into the washing machine and set it to the program recommended by the manufacturer.
