Charles III. took another step in removing his brother Andrew from public life as a member of the British royal family. According to an official notice published in the UK Public Register, Andrew has been stripped of his last knighthood – membership of the Order of the Garter.
“The King has ordered that the appointment of Andrew Albert Christian Edward Mountbatten-Windsor as a Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter, dated 23 April 2006, be revoked and annulled and that his name be struck off the register of the said Order,” it is stated in the official notification.
Cancellation of membership in the Podväžkovo rad is not the only measure. According to another official statement, his title of Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Victoria was also annulled on the same day. The move follows events in October, when Andrew was stripped of his princely title and told he had to leave his Royal Lodge home due to long-term ties to the late predator Jeffrey Epstein.
In addition to the titles Prince, the withdrawal of titles also applies to the titles Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh and the titles His Royal Highness. His daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, will not lose their titles.
