Although the issue of housing falls within the competence of the member states, the European Union has wanted to put more focus on it for some time. In the von der Leyen II Commission, which began its work a year ago, there is an EU Commissioner for Housing (and Energy) for the first time. His name is Dan Jørgensen and he comes from Denmark. The EU Parliament also has a special committee on the housing crisis. Members of this committee also came to Vienna for a few days last July.
