Slovak skier Petra Vlhová (30) became part of the jockey session in which famous personalities confess to editors on the autism spectrum. They have complete freedom, they can ask about anything they are interested in, without any restrictions. Thanks to their open-ended questions, the athlete relaxed, allowed a glimpse into her privacy and talked about painful moments in life.
It’s no secret that Petra is going through a difficult period. It all started with a serious injury during the World Cup in Jasna, when you January 20, 2024 she tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee in the fall. Shortly afterwards, she traveled to Switzerland, where she underwent the necessary surgery.
During convalescence in November 2024, she and her partner Michal Kyselica announced that they had separated after five years. Another blow came a few months later, as doctors discovered that she had damaged cartilage, and in March 2025 she had to undergo another operation. The native of Liptovský Mikuláš admitted that the events of the past year deeply affected her, so she decided to seek a therapist.
The group of editors of the jockey session thus received a lot of inspiration for creating really curious questions. There were also light-hearted topics – for example, about her favorite food, where she revealed that she loves Spiš sausages, or about her favorite free time sleep or in the circle of friends.
There were also areas where she described the most difficult period in her life, as she called it. “I stopped. I couldn’t do what I like and my private life as well. Two big wounds came that I had to fight with. At the end of the day, you can always do everything, but it’s challenging and you have to deal with it somehow.” she said at the beginning.
She then explained the suffering in even more detail. “Maybe I’m also grateful that it all happened, because it hit me so hard and I’m finding myself… when you play sports and you’re in that cycle, you don’t have time for yourself and the fact that I stayed at home… I lost everything, I lost my life, that I couldn’t do sports and at the same time I lost my partner, so I was left alone and I started thinking.” admitted.
A journey that was not yet over awaited her. “I lost everything and I couldn’t stand myself many times. I think that when a person finds himself, he has won in lifebecause he doesn’t need anyone else… of course, when he has that partner, it’s fine, but being yourself, finding yourself, is very important in life,” she emphasized.
She surprised those present with an unexpected revelation. “I’m still recovering from a lot of things. It’s not easy for me, but that’s life… If I’m really telling the truth, then no, I’m not happy in my life!” added the Slovak, who is used to winning in her life and being among the elite in her discipline.
