At the same event, young Rodrigo Mora was elected footballer of the year. Mora was competing with Samu, Iván Marcano, who ended his contract with the club at the end of the 2024/25 season, and Nico González, who left in January for English side Manchester City.
This was the second distinction for the ‘blue and white’ midfielder, who had won the young athlete award in 2023.
In September 2024, Mora made his debut in the Porto main team, aged just 17, against Arouca, which ended in a 4-0 victory against Porto, and, since then, he has played a prominent role in the 2024/25 season, with 11 goals and four assists, in 35 games played.
“In 2023, I received the Dragão de Ouro for a young athlete. When I received it, I promised to honor the club and do my best, which I reaffirm today. A year ago, I fulfilled my dream of making my debut for FC Porto. Now, there is only one left: to be champion and celebrate at Aliados”, he said, at the ceremony closed to the media, at Dragão Arena.
The 18-year-old player succeeded goalkeeper Diogo Costa in winning the award, which was awarded by voting among members on the Internet.
