Donald Trump advances what could be his next steps in Venezuela. The president of the United States insisted this Tuesday that “very soon” US attacks against drug trafficking cartels within Venezuelan territory will begin. All this, after the operation against boats in the Caribbean, which he accuses of transporting drugs, and in which 83 people have died.
“On land it is much easier. We know the routes they take. We know everything about them. We know where they live. We know where the bad guys live. And we are going to start with that very soon too,” the president assured the press.
The president already warned last week that his Armed Forces will act “very soon” on the ground against alleged Venezuelan drug traffickers and announced to pilots and airlines that they should consider
Hegseth assures that he did not witness the second attack on an alleged drug boat
The Secretary of War of the United States, Pete Hegseth, assured this Tuesday that he did not witness the second attack that the US army carried out on September 2 on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean, as a result of which Two survivors of a first bombing of the ship died.
“I saw that first attack and, as you can imagine, at the War Department, we had a lot of things to do,” Hegseth responded when asked by reporters at a meeting of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet at the White House. “So I proceeded to my next meeting. A couple of hours later, I found out that commander had made the decision,” Hegseth continued, referring to what the Trump administration says ordered the second strike.
Hegseth has reiterated that “Bradley made the right decision to ultimately sink the ship and eliminate the threat.”
The Washington Post reported last Thursday, citing anonymous officials, that in the first of these attacks, carried out on September 2, a second bombing was carried out to kill two survivors of the initial attack, an action that Congress prepares to investigate the possibility that it constitutes a war crime. “I did not personally see the survivors, but I still support the decision because that thing was on fire. It exploded in fire and smoke. You cannot see it although there are digital images. This is called fog of war. This is what you and the press don’t understand.n,” continued the Secretary of War.
Asked about this issue, Trump has assured that he has no information on the matter, that he trusts Hegseth and that he has heard that the admiral “is an extraordinary person.” Likewise, he has stated that these actions have saved “thousands of lives” in the United States.
