When I serve it for dinner, my husband smacks his lips with satisfaction. This stewed cabbage with onion is my favorite

When I prepare a substantial dinner with a solid portion of meat, I like to serve stewed cabbage with onion as an addition. It is extremely aromatic and tasty, my husband loves such meals. I admit that I like her very much too.

  • 1 medium head of white cabbage,
  • 4 medium red onions,
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin,
  • 2 teaspoons of marjoram,
  • 2 grains of allspice,
  • salt, pepper (to taste),
  • 1 tablespoon of butter (82%),
  • clarified butter (for frying).

Peel the outer leaves of the cabbage. Cut out the core. Rinse the entire head and chop finely. Transfer to a pot. Pour in hot, lightly salted water. Cook until soft. Drain thoroughly.

Peel the onions and cut them into quarters, then cut each quarter into slices. Fry in butter. Place the fried onion and butter into the pot with the cabbage.

Stew the cabbage and onion for several minutes, stirring occasionally. While stewing, season with cumin, marjoram and allspice crushed in a mortar, as well as – to taste – pepper and salt. Finally, add another tablespoon of butter to the cabbage. Mix thoroughly.
