A former England national team player was arrested last Sunday (30/11), at Stansted airport, in London, on suspicion of attempted sexual violence. The accusation was made by a former partner of the man.
ESPN confirmed the athlete’s information and identity, which was not revealed due to legal reasons.
Essex Police confirmed to ESPN that the man was released after posting bail and will remain free until February 2026, when he is due to stand trial, pending further evidence.

A local police spokesperson said: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted sexual violence and has been released on bail until February 2026 while we continue our investigations.”
The man was stopped outside Stansted Airport, according to initial information from The Sun Newspaper.
