Barcelona reacted and beat Atlético de Madrid 3-1 this Tuesday (2), in an intense duel at Camp Nou.
Goals from Raphinha, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres secured the victory for the Catalans, extending Xavi’s team’s lead at the top of LaLiga. At the same time, this was the Madrid team’s first defeat in the championship since August.
With the result, Barça reaches 37 points, four more than second-placed Real Madrid, who face Athletic Bilbao this Wednesday (3).
Atlético, who arrived in Barcelona on the back of a run of seven wins in all competitions, remains in fourth place, with 31 points.
The Madrid team opened the scoring in the 19th minute, in a counterattack completed by Álex Baena. Seven minutes later, Raphinha equalized with a close-range finish after a precise pass from Pedri.
The turning point came in the 65th minute: Dani Olmo took advantage of a live ball in the area and finished low. In stoppage time, Ferran Torres completed the victory by completing another counterattack.
