Controversial “hero monument” at the Vienna Art Academy “designed away”

Vienna – The now controversial “Hero Monument for the Fallen Art Academics” by the sculptor Josef Müllner (1879-1968), who was controversial because of his role in National Socialism, was unveiled in 1925 in the auditorium of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and has been “designed away” by a working group at the Academy. The “blank space” created by the removal will be “publicly revealed” on Thursday during a book presentation.
