The historic defeat suffered by São Paulo against Fluminense last week (27/11) continues to have repercussions and has already left “victims” and other actions. This time, Tricolor is looking for a new investment for hiring, as it is experiencing a serious financial crisis.
This Tuesday, Galápagos Capital, which is already a partner of the club, is studying an investment fund for hiring together with the board. With this, Sporting News shows who the company is and how much it can invest.

Galapagos Capital in São Paulo?
São Paulo is studying the creation, together with Galapagos Capital, of a new investment fund estimated at around R$200 millionwith the aim of financing signings to reinforce the squad. The information is from “UOL”.
The idea is to attract investors interested in contributing money so that the club can acquire players without relying solely on its own budget or increasing its debt. In exchange for this contribution, these investors would be entitled to a part of the profits obtained by São Paulo in future sales of athletes contracted with resources from the fund.
Galapagos Capital was chosen to participate in the structure as it already operates in other financial operations of the club, which facilitates the creation of a safe and supervised model. The project is still in the discussion phase — both the format and the fund’s rules may undergo adjustments.

What is Galapagos Capital?
Galapagos Capital was founded on August 2, 2019, by Carlos Daniel Rizzo da Fonseca — a market professional with long experience in investment banking.
Since its founding, Galapagos has structured a “complete ecosystem” to operate on different fronts in the financial market — offering services that include Asset Management (fund and portfolio management), Wealth Management (wealth management), Investment Banking (mergers and acquisitions, fundraising, private credit), among others.
In terms of scale, the company claims to have more than R$13 billion under management currently — which gives an idea of the size of its volume of operations. It is also worth mentioning that over the last few years Galapagos has grown through acquisitions: for example, it purchased the management company Frontier Capital in 2023 to expand its offer of equity funds.
In addition to its traditional operations in management and financial services, Galapagos has also been involved in notable projects — such as the recent investment fund in partnership with São Paulo Futebol Clube to invest in the club’s youth categories.
