The fans of Milwaukee Bucks turned on the warning signal about the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo. The star once again pressured the franchise’s leadership for a more competitive squad in the NBA. This Tuesday (02/12), the athlete deleted practically all references to the franchise from his social networks – only records remained of the 2021 titles, in the NBA, and 2024, in the NBA Cup. The attitude occurred immediately after the 129-126 defeat to the Washington Wizards, on Monday night (12/01).
Giannis, currently 30 years old and with a contract with the Bucks until the end of the 26/27 season, had already sent a strong message to the board recently. The Bucks have accumulated seven consecutive defeats, some of them with the Greek on the court. After being eliminated by the New York Knicks in the group stage of the NBA Cup, the two-time MVP publicly complained.
– Of course you want to win, win championships. We had a chance to go to Las Vegas (host of the NBA Cup final). But we weren’t and, at the end of the day, I just want to win. We lost seven in a row, I can’t even remember the last time that happened to me – he said.
On social media, fans of the Los Angeles Lakers they were excited about the possibility of Giannis changing teams. The ace is aold dream of the franchise. In October, journalist Jovan Buha, from “The Athletic”, highlighted that the Greek was the Lakers’ big goal.

The Lakers could put together a proposal involving Austin Reaves, Dalton Knecht, Rui Hachimura and their three future draft picks, a package that would certainly catch Milwaukee’s attention. However, There is no information at the moment whether this negotiation is taking place now.
Giannis’s attitude is reminiscent of an episode from September 2020, when the star also deleted all his publications and stopped following his teammates. At the time, the pressure had an effect: the Bucks offered the biggest contract extension in the league at that time and brought in Jrue Holiday. The following year, the franchise broke its fast and won the title.
Since then, Milwaukee has remained among the contenders for the trophy, largely due to Giannis. However, the team accumulated three consecutive eliminations in the first round of the playoffs. The star requested reinforcements for the 2025/26 season, but saw no significant changes.
Milwaukee Bucks: how the team is doing
Despite the good start, the Bucks today only occupy 11th place in the East, with nine wins and 13 losses – even outside the play-in. The fall to the Wizards, one of the most fragile teams in the championship and without its main player, Alex Sarr, further aggravated the discontent.
At the end of the game, the Bucks were up 120-115 after Giannis’ basket. The turning point, however, came with Khris Middleton – precisely his former partner from Milwaukee. The Wizards were better in the last possessions of the ball and secured the triumph, increasing the frustration of the number 34.
The next commitments are not simple: among the next four games, two will be against the leader Detroit Pistons. Furthermore, Milwaukee faces the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, all higher up in the table.
