The statements were made by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov after talks in Moscow between Putin and US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Talks continued into the early hours of Wednesday, according to Reuters.

“We will meet with the US as many times as necessary to achieve peace in Ukraine,” Peskov said, adding that Russia appreciated the US president’s efforts to resolve the conflict.

As Peskov pointed out, “it would be wrong to say that the plan was rejected. It was just a first exchange of views. Some things are acceptable, some things are not.”

At the same time, regarding the decision of the European Union to stop the supply of natural gas from Russia in 2027, Peskov warned that Europe will be asked to pay significantly more for gas in the future.
