Vladimir Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev celebrated the Russian president’s meeting with the US delegation: “An important day for the world: the team that drafted President (Donald) Trump’s Gaza peace agreement will be in Moscow to advance Trump’s peace agenda in Ukraine.” He picked up US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner from the airport on Tuesday. The conversation with Putin began in the evening Moscow time and ultimately lasted almost five hours. A compromise could not be reached, as Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov explained afterwards. Peace in Ukraine is now neither closer nor further away than before.
