TCU re-elects Vital do Rêgo as president and Jorge Oliveira as vice

They were re-elected by unanimous vote and will remain at the head of the Court of Auditors for another year.

The ministers of the (Federal Audit Court) unanimously re-elected the president for another year’s term as head of the Audit Court, in a session held this Wednesday (3). The minister was re-elected to the position of vice-president.

The term of office begins on January 1, 2026. Both took office immediately after the vote.

“Receiving this unanimous approval certainly gives us an increasing responsibility to fulfill expectations that you had for us and now renew,” Vital told fellow ministers.

Minister Benjamin Zymler presided over the session during the collection and counting of votes. The attorney general of the Public Ministry at the TCU (MPTCU), Cristina Machado, the ministers Aroldo Cedraz, Vital do Rêgo, Jorge Oliveira, and Jhonatan de Jesus, participated in the session.

Profiles

President and minister Vital do Rêgo graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) and in law from the State University of Paraíba (UEPB). He held positions as councilor, state deputy, federal deputy and senator before being appointed by the Federal Senate, in 2014, to join the TCU. Vital do Rêgo is from Campina Grande (PB).

Vice-president and minister Jorge Oliveira has a bachelor’s degree in law and public security administration, with specializations in public law and political science. Previously, he worked at the PMDF (Military Police of the Federal District), practicing law and acting as chief minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic. He is from Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
