This Wednesday (3), the Democratic deputies of the Supervisory Committee of US Chamber disclosed photos and videos of a private island in the Caribbean who belonged to Jeffrey Epsteinshedding new light on what was previously the epicenter two abuses committed by the late sex offender against girls and young women for decades.
The images and videos show several bedrooms, bathrooms and what appears to be a dentist’s chair in a room with masks on the wall, as well as a landline phone with names written on the speed dial buttons, including “Darren,” “Rich,” “Mike,” “Patrick” and “Larry.”
One photo appears to show an office with a chalkboard: on it are scrawled words such as “power”, “deception”, “conspiracies” and “politician”.
Several videos show the opulent gardens of a house that resembles a luxury resort, with a pool, palm trees and a winding path overlooking the ocean.
A Democratic committee aide told CNN that the photos and videos released this Wednesday had never been made public before and were all taken on Little St. James Island, in the US Virgin Islands.
There are several censored parts in the phone and whiteboard photos – the aide said the names of any women were omitted as a precaution.
The release comes on the heels of documents relating to Epstein being in his possession.
The release of these so-called “Epstein Files” is highly anticipated and could happen in a matter of days.
“These new images offer a disturbing look into the world of Jeffrey Epstein and his island. We are releasing these photos and videos to ensure public transparency in our investigation and to help reconstruct the full picture of Epstein’s horrific crimes,” Rep. Robert Garcia, the Democratic leader on the committee, said in a statement.
The US Virgin Islands have long been of great interest to investigators looking into Epstein’s decades of abuse.
Epstein privately owned Little St. James Island — sometimes nicknamed “Little St. Jeff’s” — and Great St. James Island.
Epstein frequented his homes on these islands and often invited many of his wealthy and influential friends and acquaintances. These private islands allowed Epstein to operate his sex trafficking ring for years, away from the public eye.
Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most notorious victims, wrote in her posthumous memoir, for example, that it was on one of the islands—when she was 18—that Epstein “trafficked me to a man who raped me more savagely than anyone had raped me before.”
“He strangled me repeatedly until I lost consciousness and took pleasure in watching me fear for my life. Horribly, the Prime Minister laughed as he hurt me and became even more aroused when I begged him to stop,” she wrote of Epstein and an unnamed world leader.
Both islands were purchased by billionaire investor Stephen Deckoff in 2023. Deckoff did not respond to requests for comment from CNN over the islands.
Last month, the House of Representatives Oversight Committee asked U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Gordon Rhea for a set of documents to further investigate Epstein’s life on the two private islands, where he allegedly used his personal and business relationships to negotiate advantageous tax breaks and even bribe local law enforcement officials, according to the committee’s letter.
The committee wants to know more about the police action brought by the US Virgin Islands against Epstein in 2020 and the subsequent settlements totaling millions of dollars.
“The Committee believes that documents relating to Mr. Epstein, his estate, and the litigation in the U.S. Virgin Islands will assist in the ongoing investigation into Mr. Epstein, Ms. Maxwell, and the federal government’s investigation into both,” committee chairman Republican Rep. James Comer said in his subpoena letter.
The House Oversight Committee is currently reviewing the possibility of expanding its investigation into Epstein and is seeking new targets.
In addition to requesting a batch of documents from the US Attorney General of the Virginia Islands, the committee also received approximately 5,000 documents in response to subpoenas issued to JP Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank for Epstein’s financial records, a committee spokesperson told CNN.
Republicans believe Epstein’s finances will provide a valuable new source of information.
“Most are reviewing these materials and will make them public soon, just as the Committee has already done with the more than 65,000 pages produced during this investigation,” the spokesperson told CNN.
The spokesman also criticized Democrats for releasing the small sample of photos and videos on Wednesday. “It is strange that Democrats are once again releasing selective information, as they have done before,” the spokesperson added.
The panel has already released tens of thousands of documents, emails and communications received from Epstein’s estate, which continue to open new lines of investigation.
