Meghan Markle’s father is in intensive care after undergoing emergency surgery in the Philippines, according to his son. Thomas Markle, 81, who has not been in contact with his daughter since her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, was taken to hospital on Tuesday after his condition worsened. On Wednesday, he underwent an approximately three-hour operation and is awaiting a second procedure to remove a blood clot. writes
“I took my father to a hospital near our house, where they did various tests and the doctors said that his life was in imminent danger. We were taken in an ambulance with sirens blaring to a much larger hospital downtown. My father underwent emergency surgery. I would like to ask all the people in the world to think of him,” said Thomas Markle Jr.
Father and son moved to the Philippines in January. “My only wish is that Meghan would show my father some compassion. He is literally fighting for his life,” he bequeathed. Relations in the family are cold. According to media reports, Thomas Markle has never met his son-in-law or grandchildren Archie (6) and Lilibet (4).
Meghan’s father has been in failing health for years. On the eve of his daughter’s wedding, he suffered two heart attacks, which prevented him from boarding a plane from Los Angeles to London. In 2022, he had a massive stroke that left him unable to speak. After months of therapy, his speech partially returned, but in recent years he had become increasingly weak.
