Lately, so-called oversize glasses have become trendy, and with their size, interesting color and shape, they add a youthful touch to the face. According to optometrist Clark, however, you should choose your glasses carefully, sometimes it can happen that your face unnecessarily “drows” in massive or large frames. And that would be a shame. When buying, you should make sure that the frames “fit” well on the temples, nose and ears and do not “tip over” unnecessarily. It is also important to keep your eyes in the middle of the glasses to ensure a comfortable view.
Watch out for your eyebrows and smile
Sometimes it happens that monstrous glasses literally overwhelm the face and take away its natural contours. “That’s why you should be careful that your glasses don’t cover your entire eyebrow,” says the optician, adding that the bottom of the frame shouldn’t touch your smile either. Weight also plays a role in large hoops. Too monstrous models can be heavy, put unnecessary pressure on the bridge of the nose and can cause fatigue in the final.
Variant for round faces
According to the expert, oversize glasses are suitable for almost everyone, however, it is good to always consider the shape of the face. For example, square frames suit round faces, which optically “stretch” them. For example, glasses with a retro touch, such as browline or clubmaster, are a good choice. In both types of frames, the upper part of the frame is emphasized, which gives the glasses a sophisticated look and flair. They are versatile in shape and suitable for everyday wear.
Variant for “ovals”
An oval face is elongated, with higher cheekbones and a narrower chin. That’s why oversized glasses are perfect for him. Square, round or cat-eye glasses suit him best. It also looks great in combination with massive transparent frames.

For an angular face, the width of the forehead, cheekbones and jaws are roughly similar. That’s why it’s good to bet on oval frames, which soften the face a little. So-called “pilot” glasses or frames with slightly rounded corners are also suitable.

According to optometrist Clark, you should watch out for glasses that are too dark, which can feel unnecessarily heavy and hard on the face due to their larger size. Models in bright or transparent versions are a suitable option. Anyway, the surest thing is to try the glasses on in person or at least virtually. Quite often it happens that even a small deviation can change your overall image.
