Mountains remind us of what is most important in life – Adéla Gondíková presented the romantic comedy Na horách

The popular actress loves mountains in summer and winter. “My husband and I love to go to the mountains. I think they are a place that brings people together. A place where we spend Christmas, New Year’s Eve, schools in nature… everyone has their own memories.” she said before the screening. And what connects her to her movie character? “Alena is a caring, hard-working woman with a sense of humor. She takes care of schools in nature, so she has patience with children. She lives a modest life and is satisfied with it – that’s what connects us. But she has had unpleasant life situations, which fortunately I haven’t… and I think that this is subliminally reflected in how she perceives the world and how she behaves.” she explained.

Rudolf Havlík set the story in an authentic mountain environment, which is not only a backdrop, but an active part of the plot. Lucie comes to the cottage with the aim of handling the inheritance, but an unexpected meeting with rescuer Matěj and the local community turns her life upside down. The original plan to leave quickly becomes a journey that teaches her to slow down, reassess priorities and accept challenges that she has avoided for a long time. Comical situations, interventions of mountain rescuers, unpredictable weather and the presence of local residents create an environment in which trust, friendship and gradually a deeper relationship between Lucia and Matěj are born.

The film was shot not only in the Czech Giant Mountains, but also in the Nepalese Gompa Valley at an altitude of 4,400 m above sea level, which strengthens its adventurous character. Cinematographer Jan Šuster used natural light, wide shots and atmospheric work with the environment, thanks to which the mountains become an almost equal “character”. “I thought I’d never be able to do it. Still, a bunch of coffee shop bums and I went to the biggest mountains in the world and did it.” director Rudolf Havlík admitted. “Mountains have always been good for making people understand that most things don’t really matter. They cleanse the soul, calm the head and remind us what is important in life. And we wanted to show that in the film as well,” he added in conclusion.

Romantic comedy On the mountains enters Slovak cinemas on December 4, 2025.
