The drug was found in a warehouse belonging to a metal alloy export company, subject of a search and seizure warrant. According to the PF, the property served as a base for the criminal scheme, and the cocaine was hidden in an underground bunker, the entrance to which had to be cleared with heavy machinery.
With information obtained after the seizure, the PF represented the arrest of a second suspect and new searches at an address linked to him, in Florianópolis (SC). Vehicles, boats, jewelry and documents were seized at the scene.
Investigations indicate that the company operated as a front for a permanent scheme to send cocaine to Europe, using the warehouse to prepare and store the drug before international transport. The group would have an organized criminal structure, with an operational base in Santa Catarina, logistical support from Brazilians and leadership exercised by foreigners.
Among those investigated, the PF identified British citizens wanted internationally, with a history of involvement in drug trafficking in Brazil. . Investigations continue to identify other participants in the network and track the international routes used by the group.
