Public Security PEC report will be presented next week

The special committee of postponed the presentation of the opinion of the rapporteur of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) 18/25, the Mendonça Filho (União-PE), scheduled for this Wednesday (3). With the postponement, the expectation is that the project report, which promotes changes in the security structure in the country, will be presented on Tuesday (9).

According to the rapporteur, the postponement occurred at the request of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, to hold more conversations with party leaders.

“President Hugo Motta preferred to give more time so that we can move forward with these conversations and in view of these conversations that I have been having since yesterday and today, my presentation of the text was rescheduled for Tuesday”, said the deputy.

The rapporteur said that he held a round of conversations with leaders to discuss the theme of the proposal and “so that the text reflects the feeling of the House a little more”.

Among the leaders who spoke with Mendonça Filho are the leader of the PT-PCdoB-PV federation; Pedro Campos (PSB-PE) and Rubens Pereira Junior (PT-MA), deputy leader of the government in the Chamber of Deputies.

“Obviously, these interactions will help me to better understand the feeling among the leaders and important parliamentarians within the House. I have been talking about the general theme, not about the text in general, but it is important so that we have a little more time to present the most important thing among the leaders”, he reiterated.

The proposal establishes that the Union is responsible for developing the national public security policy, “whose guidelines will be mandatory for federated entities, after consulting the National Council for Public Security and Social Defense, made up of representatives from the Union, the States, the Federal District and the municipalities”.
