The month of December brought the Christmas spirit to Quarteira, where the celebrations kicked off on November 30th with the arrival of Santa Claus at Praça do Mar, a symbolic moment that once again attracted many families.
The program continues with the traditional Mercadinho da Rua de Natal, installed along Rua Vasco da Gama, which runs between the 12th and 14th and again from the 19th to the 22nd of December. During this period, visitors will be able to find various gift suggestions, from handicrafts and jewelry to typical sweets of the season. The Mercadinho is open daily between 10:00 and 18:00.
Rua de Natal also has entertainment aimed especially at younger people on the 13th, 19th and 20th. Also taking place on the 13th is , following the success achieved in 2023. The initiative, organized by Banco de Tempo de Quarteira and starting at 3pm, includes performances by Grupo Coral de Quarteira and Tuna da Academia do Saber. At the end, the public will be able to taste the delicacies made by the participants.
On the 19th, the Centro Autárquico Auditorium hosts, at 3:00 pm, the puppet show “I saw a star! …and the story of the Algarve Traditional Nativity Scene”hosted by Teatro Joaquim and aimed at the whole family. On the 20th, at 2:30 pm, the Scout Group 1052 of Quarteira will once again distribute the 2nd Mega Trunk of Christmas, in a fundraising action for the association.
“Rua de Natal is an event that we are very proud of”, says João Romão, president of . The mayor highlights the importance of investing in initiatives that boost local commerce, adding: “Every moment, from the grocery store to the Christmas tree, are opportunities for us to bring Quarteira residents, and others who visit us, to the streets of Quarteira and have the opportunity to do their Christmas shopping here”.
In addition to the entertainment on Rua de Natal, the city also maintains the usual centers in Praça de Natal, open between November 30th and January 6th, closing only on Mondays. All programming is free entry.
Rua de Natal is organized by the Quarteira Parish Council, with the support of Loulé City Council.
