The US government has recently sued the media several times for alleged defamation, and now a lawsuit is going in the other direction. The newspaper sees new rules that the US defense department issued in October as a restriction on freedom of speech. The Pentagon’s guidelines regulate the conditions under which journalists have access to the building and, for example, to press conferences. Against new rules that have been in force for around two months New York Times now sued.
