The Ukrainian army is successfully resisting the Russian forces. He denies the conquest of strategic nodes

Ukraine disputes Russian claims about the capture of Pokrovsk and Vovchansk. The operations of the Ukrainian forces demonstrate solid defensive positions in the region.

The command of the Ukrainian army continues to reject Russia’s claims about the alleged capture of the strategically important city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region and the city of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region. Moscow announced this week. TASR informs about it according to the report of the DPA agency.

“Ukrainian troops continue to hold the northern part of Pokrovskoe,” Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, wrote on Facebook, according to which Ukraine repelled Russia’s attempts to bypass Pokrovskoe and neighboring Myrnohrad.

Resistance in Vovčansk

The army also refused to occupy the town of Vovchansk in the north of the Kharkiv region near the border with Russia. “All attempts of the enemy to raise their flag in Vovchansk end the same – they are killed,” said Colonel Ivan Kolontai, deputy commander of the 16th Corps of the Ukrainian Army. According to him, the western, eastern and southern entrances to the city are still under the control of Ukraine, as well as the estates in its vicinity.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army questioned the Russian advance north of the city of Huljapole in the Zaporozhye region. According to him, the Russian reconnaissance team was destroyed there.

Pokrovsk as a strategic hub

Pokrovsk is a key transportation hub in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region, and Russian forces have been slowly advancing on it for more than a year. The mining town had 60,000 inhabitants before the war. According to Moscow, its capture would provide the Russian army with a base for advancing to the north, where Kramatorsk and Sloviansk lie – the two largest cities in the Donetsk region under the control of Ukraine. The Russian army announced the capture of the city on Monday.
