Opposition leader in the Chamber of Deputies says that refusal will be “interference in the organization of the PL”
The leader of the opposition in the Chamber of Deputies, federal deputy (PL-RS), entered this Wednesday (Dec 3, 2025) with a request to the STF (Supreme Federal Court) to visit the former president (PL), arrested at the PF Superintendence (Federal Police) in Brasília.
The congressman argues that he maintains friendly ties with Bolsonaro and that the visit will aim to discuss political issues regarding the PL’s position in the Chamber of Deputies. The petition states that a possible denial of the visit will be “an interference by this Court in the organization of a political party with large representation in the National Congress”.
The request also mentions authorizations from Minister Alexandre de Moraes in other criminal proceedings, such as in the case of Roberto Jefferson, and Rivaldo Barbosa, delegate of the PC-RJ (Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro) accused of being involved in the murder of Marielle Franco in 2018.
“As can be seen, the precedents for authorizations granted by this Rapporteur involve cases of investigations of notoriously serious crimes, including homicides, and visits by fellow parliamentarians to the person in custody”.
Since he was arrested, Bolsonaro has received visits from his lawyers, his wife, former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, and his children: senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ), Rio de Janeiro councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and Balneário Camboriú councilor Jair Renan Bolsonaro (PL-SC).
