After the Star, comes the Michelin Grape: the best wines in the world will receive distinction

For 125 years, Michelin has recognized establishments based on gastronomic excellence. Now, the experience will also reach the wines.

The cellars from different regions of the world they will be able to receive one, two or even three Michelin Grapes. A Michelin Grape means that we are dealing with producers “of great quality”. Two Michelin Grapes are attributed to producers of “excellence”. E three Michelin Grapes will be for the “producers of exception”.

To choose the best wineries, consideration will be given to five criteria: the quality of agronomy, technical specialization, identity, balance and constancy of wines.

A choosehwill be carried out by inspectors specialized in wine (former sommeliers, specialized critics, or production specialists)all professionals from the Michelin group.

“After guiding gastronomy lovers to the best tables in more than 70 destinations, and to exceptional accommodations around the world, the MICHELIN Guide is pleased to inaugurate a new chapter with the universe of wine. This new reference is aimed at both curious neophytes and passionate experts, and highlights the women and men who, around the world, shape, with talent and demand, the wineries of today and tomorrow”, it states Gwendal Poullennecinternational director of the MICHELIN Guide, in a statement.

As recommendations will start next yearcom as regions French of Burgundy and Bordeaux to be the first featured.
