CCDR Algarve launches book on the Mediterranean Diet and regional identity

The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission, IP (CCDR Algarve) will promote, on December 9th, at 5:00 pm, in the David Assoreira Auditorium, the book launch session “An insight into the Mediterranean Diet – All of Algarve”a work that aims to celebrate the cultural, gastronomic and identity richness of the region, covering the 16 municipalities of the Algarve territory.

According to the organizing entity, the book brings together records, photographs, recipes and culinary techniques representative of each municipality, highlighting 16 basic products associated with many other recipes created by chefs selected “according to criteria of diversity, gender balance and connection to the territory”.

The publication also includes a reading about the “identity geography” of the Algarve, highlighting the uniqueness of its landscapes, natural resources and cultural expressions.

The work is part of the celebrations of the 12th anniversary of the inscription of the Mediterranean Diet on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, celebrated on December 4, 2025.

The edition results from the work developed within the scope of the Alentejo–Algarve–Andalusia Euroregion project, currently chaired by CCDR Algarve, and is financed by the INTERREG POCTEP 2021-2027 Program. The publication is the responsibility of Rapsódia Final, Lda., edited by João Pinto de Sousa.
