The EU is imposing a million-dollar fine on Elon Musk’s online platform X due to lack of transparency. The US company had to pay 120 million euros, among other things because of misleading authentication of user accounts using the white verification check mark on a blue background, as the responsible EU Commission announced. She also accuses the Twitter successor of withholding data from researchers and of not transparently documenting advertising.
