Group C of the 2026 World Cup: Table, games, stadiums and odds for Brazil

Grupo C da Copa do Mundo 2026: Tabela, jogos, estádios e odds para o Brasil image

Brazil will be the top seed in Group C of the 2026 World Cup, a group that will also include Morocco, Haiti and Scotland.

The group is considered accessible for Brazil, which has Scotland and Haiti as slightly weaker teams. Morocco, semi-finalist in the last World Cup, is Brazil’s great rival in the bracket and should fight for first place.

The first placed team in Group C will face the second placed team, formed by the Netherlands, Japan, Tunisia and whoever comes from the European B playoff (Ukraine, Sweden, Poland or Albania).

World Cup Group C teams

Brazil

Brazil is the biggest champion, with five titles, and the only country to have played in all the World Cups in history.

The Brazilian team’s path to the next tournament, however, was anything but smooth. Brazil finished only fifth in the South American Qualifiers, behind Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia and Uruguay. Since the last World Cup, the Seleção has gone through two first-team coaches and one interim coach before Carlo Ancelotti finally took charge. Hired in May 2025, the Italian appears to have steadied the ship and given the team a clearer identity.

Vinicius Junior continues to be the big attraction, even if he has not yet managed to reproduce his Real Madrid form with the yellow shirt on a regular basis. This gap created space for Chelsea’s Estevão to emerge as the main organizer of the attack. The 18-year-old is the top scorer of the “Ancelotti era” so far, with five goals in 11 games.

The Brazilian squad also has the quality of Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Raphinha (Barcelona) and a strengthened defensive core with Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal), Éder Militão (Real Madrid), Marquinhos (PSG) and goalkeeper Alisson (Liverpool).

Among fans and the Brazilian press, there is still uncertainty about whether Neymar will be at next year’s World Cup. Despite recent difficulties, he is still seen as the great name of his generation. The prevailing feeling is that, if he is fit enough, the former PSG and Barcelona player will remain firmly in Ancelotti’s plans.

Morocco

The World Cup in North America will be Morocco’s seventh appearance on football’s biggest stage and, for the first time, its third in a row. The Atlas Lions swept through Group E of the African Qualifiers, becoming the first nation on the continent to get their passport stamped after demolishing Niger 5-0 on September 5.

In the expanded 48-team tournament, Morocco will have one mission in mind: show the world that their historic fourth-place finish at Qatar 2022 was not a one-off miracle. Walid Regragui’s men want to keep the momentum going, fuel the pride of millions at home and carry that fire forward as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 tournament.

There is no doubt that Moroccan football is experiencing its brightest chapter. A World Cup semi-final in 2022, a crown at the U20 World Cup a few weeks ago and a series of achievements in African, Arab and global competitions, from men’s and women’s teams to futsal, point to a genuine golden era.

And for the older generation, this rebirth tastes especially sweet. They have lived through the long years of frustration, the failed campaigns, the dry spells without success in the Cup or AFCON and the early eliminations that have become familiar. The current dominance on all fronts seems late, but well deserved.

Scotland

The long wait is finally over for Scotland, who qualified for their first men’s World Cup since France 1998 in the most dramatic ways possible.

Needing to beat Denmark in their final qualifying match in November, the Scots were caught up after an anthemic bicycle goal from their star Scott McTominay, only to score twice in stoppage time to secure a breathtaking 4-2 victory – the final goal coming from a midfield chip from Kenny McLean.

Coach Steve Clarke now has the task of ending another taboo, engineering the country’s first ever foray into the round of 16 of a major tournament. Scotland have been eliminated at the group stage in all eight of their previous World Cup appearances, as well as in four European Championship campaigns.

Clarke’s record is solid: he is the Scottish manager with the most games in charge (74), and that victory over Denmark saw him surpass Craig Brown on the number of victories (33). He will also become the first man to lead the country in three major tournaments.

Clarke has developed a pragmatic style that manages to get the best out of stars like McTominay, John McGinn and captain Andy Robertson, while promoting youngsters like Ben Gannon-Doak, who could play an important role next year.

Haiti

In its second World Cup in history and the first since 1974, Haiti is the second worst ranked team in the 2026 tournament, ahead of only New Zealand (86th), apart from the teams still in the intercontinental playoffs.

The French-speaking nation has experienced violent conflict over the past decade and, as a result, hosts its home games in neighboring Curaçao. This is also why French coach Sébastien Migné, who has previously managed DR Congo, Kenya and Equatorial Guinea, has never set foot in Haiti.

This team will be happy just to be in the tournament, and it will be difficult for them to achieve any significant results in the World Cup.

2026 World Cup bracket for Group C

The winner of Group C will face the runner-up in Group F. Among the 12 group leaders at the 2026 World Cup, only four — including the winner of Group C — will face a runner-up in the final stage. Round of 32. The other eight leaders will face teams that advance in third place.

The third-placed team in Group C, if it advances among the eight best third-placed teams, could fall into three different possible brackets, facing:

  • the winner of Group E

  • the winner of Group I

  • or the winner of Group A

It is only possible to define the exact path after all third parties are known. This is because there are 495 possible mathematical combinations for the classification of these third-placed teams — all previously listed in the Anexo C (p. 80) of the 2026 World Cup regulations.
