Vienna – Culture Minister and Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler (SPÖ) has set up a commission chaired by the President of the Finanzprokuratur, Wolfgang Peschorn, to examine legal questions relating to the Habsburg jewels stored in a safe deposit box in Canada. The committee, called the “Florentine Commission” after the Florentine Diamond, met for the first time on Thursday. Results are expected in autumn 2026, it said in a release on Friday.
