Leroy Merlin will change command in the country from January 1st, with Ricardo Dinelli assuming the position of general director in place of Spaniard Ignacio Sánchez. Dinelli, at Leroy Merlin for almost 13 years, is the first Brazilian to hold the position. He started as a trainee at the company in 2011, and after a stint at Embraer, he returned to Leroy Merlin in 2013, where he enjoyed an upwardly mobile career.
In the post since 2020, Sánchez will take command of Leroy Merlin Italy. Under his management, the Brazilian subsidiary opened new units (Santos, Salvador, Jundiaí, Joinville, Jardim Botânico and Bauru), strengthened the Express format and reinforced its presence in different sales and delivery channels.
In recent years, the personnel area has also been reinforced, with new remuneration models, salary reviews and social support. The company also implemented the For All program, which transforms employees into shareholders.
“We train, with intention, a new generation of high-level leaders, as we enable more than 75% of internal promotions, globally recognized talents and countless transformed life stories,” says Sánchez.
According to the company, the succession was planned and “ensures strategic continuity and Leroy Merlin’s commitment to developing internal talent and valuing leadership deeply connected to the local market”.
Dinelli has a degree in business administration and an MBA in Commercial Management and an MBA in Retail Strategy and Management. At Leroy, he worked in different areas and held positions as commercial manager, store director, product director and regional director.
Continues after advertising
According to him, the objective continues to be to offer “a complete solution for homes, strengthening omnichannel, gaining operational efficiency, strengthening the new business front and advancing initiatives that increase our proximity to the regions where we operate”.
For 27 years in Brazil, Leroy Merlin has had more than 50 physical stores in the country, in 14 states. The company is part of the Adeo Group, the third largest company in the home improvement segment in the world.
Last year, Leroy Merlin had revenues of R$8.9 billion in Brazil. Another company in the group is Obramax, which is managed separately from Leroy and achieved revenue of R$1.7 billion in 2024.
