Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes asked minister Flávio Dino, president of the First Panel, to schedule the trial of the criminal action of those accused of planning the murder of former councilor Marielle Franco. The action also killed the parliamentarian’s driver, Anderson Gomes.
In an order this Thursday, the 4th, Moraes argued that the procedural investigation phase has already ended and all due diligence has been completed.
The action, which focuses on those who ordered the crime, has five defendants: the former federal deputy Chiquinho Brazão, the counselor at the Rio de Janeiro Court of Auditors, Domingos Brazão, the former head of the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police, Rivaldo Barbosa, the former TCE advisor Robson Fonseca and the military police officer Ronald Alves Pereira.
In May, the Attorney General’s Office requested the conviction of the Brazão brothers and the other three defendants.
The perpetrators of the crime have already been convicted by the courts. Former military police officers Ronnie Lessa and Élcio de Queiroz confessed to participating in the murder and signed plea agreements.
The duo was charged and convicted of double triple homicide, attempted murder and receiving the Cobalt vehicle used on the day of the crime, on March 14, 2018.
