Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy of the Slovak Republic Denisa Saková (Hlas-SD) confirmed after the government meeting that a cyber incident occurred on the IT systems of the Ministry of the Economy (MH) of the Slovak Republic on Tuesday, December 2. According to her, the attack lasted a very short time and thanks to quick measures, there was no data leakage. The Minister of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization Samuel Migaľ (independent) informed about the cyber attack on the social network on Tuesday evening.
“As soon as the attempts at this incident were discovered, or as they were identified, we contacted the staff of the National Security Office (NSB) and SK-CERT staff. Subsequently, we proceeded on the one hand to a closer identification of the given incidents, we took technical, personnel and organizational measures to prevent any large-scale leakage or encryption of data“, the minister explained.
According to her, experts are currently working to restore current data from backup systems. “I can assure people that energy assistance and all data related to energy assistance are operated on the systems of the Ministry of the Interior, which have the highest level of protection, such as the Schengen information system of the document agenda. It is checked every three years by the audit of the European Commission. There was no threat to data, as far as energy assistance is concerned,” Saková assured.
“At the moment we are still monitoring and investigating the extent of the damage, the extent of the attack. According to the first information, fortunately, we managed to catch the attack in time. And our measures contributed to the fact that the damage is minimal,” she specified.

Prime Minister Robert Fico took the floor. “The data is compromised and you’re looking forward to it all being messed up again. My God, you’re completely embarrassing, Lord God,” he said with a mocking tone. “The minister will inform about this in the second part of her speech, because first we want to talk about energy aid. Be calm, everything is under control.” he added.
