Senate studies hearing of STF ministers every 5 years – 12/04/2025 – Panel

Allied senators of (União Brasil-AP) evaluate a menu of measures in response to the decision of the minister, of the (Supreme Federal Court), of, including the reevaluation of the court’s ministers in hearings every five years.

One of the measures was cited by Alcolumbre himself in a note in which he criticized Gilmar’s decision to determine that only the head of the (Attorney General’s Office) could open cases against Supreme Court magistrates.

He recalled the senator’s project (PSD-MG), for the vacancy, which provides for a new legal framework for crimes of responsibility. The idea would be to vote on this text in the Senate’s CCJ (Constitution and Justice Committee) next week.

In addition to this point, allies of the President of the Senate are evaluating other measures, such as the current 11 to 15, establishment of a mandate and reevaluation through a hearing every five years.

A PEC (proposed amendment to the Constitution) that restricts monocratic decisions by the STF, already approved in the Senate and which is in the Chamber, is another of the measures that must be unlocked amid the irritation of senators with Gilmar’s decision.
