It comes after, in January, a parliamentary committee proposed constitutional changes to allow, precisely, the withdrawal of nationality from citizens with dual nationality convicted of espionage or treason.
Now, the Swedish Government says it wants to “go further” and target organized crime.
“The Government has decided to go beyond the commission’s proposal to make it possible to also revoke the citizenship of, for example, gang leaders who are guilty of very serious harm to society,” said Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer.
