Trump administration plans to extend US travel ban to more than 30 countries

The Secretary of Homeland Security of the United States, Kristi Noem, said this Thursday, 4, that the country will increase to more than 30 the number of countries whose citizens will be prohibited from traveling to American territory. Asked by the host of the Fox News program Ingraham Angle if the list of countries would reach 32, Kristi replied that it would be “more than 30”. “I will not specify the number, but there are more than 30, and the president [Donald Trump] continues to evaluate the countries,” she said. She did not detail which nations could be added.

“If they don’t have a stable government, if they don’t have a country that can stand on its own two feet and tell us who these individuals are and help us verify them, why should we allow people from that country to come to the United States?” Kristi had already said on Monday, the 1st, that she recommended to Trump a “total travel ban” for citizens of countries that, according to her, “have flooded our nation with murderers, leeches and addicts of privilege”.

“Our forefathers built this nation with blood, sweat, and an unwavering love of freedom – not for foreign invaders to massacre our heroes, suck up our hard-earned taxes, or steal the benefits owed to Americans,” he said in a post on X. “We don’t want them. None.”

In June, Trump signed a decree that banned people from 12 countries, mostly from Africa and the Middle East, from entering the United States. The measure also imposed stricter restrictions on visitors of seven other nationalities. The Republican stated that the initiative aims to “protect the national security and national interest of the United States and its people.”

The action is part of a broader set of policies to strengthen immigration laws, which has been a priority in Trump’s second term – among them, the sending of teams from the Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE) to different regions of the country. Last week, Trump had also ordered a review of the green cards of foreigners from 19 nations currently living in the US. The green card is the document that grants an immigrant the right to live and work permanently in the USA.
