Just like in the Club World Cup final, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, was present this Friday (5) during the World Cup draw that defines the groups of teams in 2026 and tried to steal all the laurels for himself. At least that’s what fans concluded online.
The event takes place precisely in Washington. The decision was a gesture by Trump to honor the American capital, which is not among the championship’s host cities.
Praised for creating the Club World Cup in the middle of the year, Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, was also criticized online for honoring Trump.
The event was also attended by the leaders of the other two host countries, such as the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, and the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.
