On Wednesday, the State Department said it had renamed the organization the Donald J. Trump Peace Institute to “reflect the best negotiator in history of our nation.” The new name could be seen on its building, which is near the State Department.
The president has spent months openly advocating for a Nobel Peace Prize, arguing that he had a paper conciliator in a series of conflicts around the world, despite the fact that conflicts that he said he would solve continue to rage. Lately, Trump has also ordered attacks against alleged drug trafficking vessels off the coast of Venezuela and has repeatedly threatened that ground attacks could come, which would be an act of war against that country.
Expulsion from the board of directors
The taking of control of the Peace Institute It was also far from peaceful, as the Trump Administration took possession of the independent entity and expelled its board of directors before actually placing its name on the building.
Anna Kelly, White House spokespersonsaid: ·The United States Institute of Peace was once a bloated and useless entity that wasted $50 million a year without producing any peace. “Now, the Donald J. Trump Peace Institute, which is both beautifully and aptly named in honor of a president who ended eight wars in less than a year, will be a powerful reminder of what strong leadership can achieve for global stability.”
