Carlos about Flávio: market fears less profit – 12/05/2025 – Power

The () councilor confirmed that his father, (), will run for President next year. He also criticized the market’s negative reaction to the announcement.

“The market is doing very well, almost 15% or more than 15% interest rates. And, when you bring in a name that can reduce this profit margin, it is logical that the market is worried. The market is worried about the money, it is not worried about the public”, stated Carlos.

4.30% this Friday (5), following the news that the former president chose Flávio, senator from Rio de Janeiro for the PL, as his presidential candidate in 2026.

Carlos, who was in São Paulo to receive a tribute from Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo) with Mário Frias (PL-SP), said he had no details about his brother’s nomination.

“I just know that my father decided and we will support it. And that’s it, but details I can’t give you because, unfortunately, I don’t have information”, he declared.

“I found out from my father’s lawyer that my father made this decision there in Brasília.”

The councilor said he is not worried about negative reactions from the central parties, rather than from the governor of São Paulo, (), as a candidate for President.

“I’m not worried about the center, no. Whatever Bolsonaro decides is decided,” he stated.

He called Tarcísio a friend and said they will be together.

“I’m sure that Tarcísio is an ally of ours, he’s a friend of ours, and I think that, if there is a problem — or if there is, I don’t believe there is one —, everyone will align themselves with a line like Tarcísio,” he stated. “I give him a big hug.”

The governor was tipped to receive Bolsonaro’s nomination to run for President, although he says he will seek re-election in São Paulo.

Before the interview, during the event, when giving his acceptance speech, Frias said that Flávio’s nomination was “very important” news and called for unity on the right around the senator.

“The message [com a indicação] It’s this: union, yes, as long as it’s around Jair Bolsonaro”, he said.

Brother of the councilor, the federal deputy (PL-SP) was treated as a “political exile who deserves all our support” at the beginning of the ceremony, during a speech by state deputy Gil Diniz (PL).

Shortly before the event began, around 20 students staged a protest against the granting of honor to the councilor, shouting slogans against the amnesty for Jair Bolsonaro.
