What to do to make the holidays successful? This period is associated with lots of rituals and traditions – who hasn’t heard of carp scales in the wallet? However, before we move on to typical Christmas superstitions, it is worth getting acquainted with those that can be performed at the beginning of December, and contrary to appearances, there are several of them. One is to guarantee prosperity for the entire month.

At the beginning of December – preferably before St. Nicholas Day, it is worth performing a simple ritual. For most people it will only take a few minutes, and who knows, maybe it will actually make their fate more favorable. This superstition has its roots in folk culture. Interestingly, not only the Slavs believed in the power of this item. In other countries, e.g. China, it was also believed to be a symbol of happiness and prosperity. What is it? It’s a regular red ribbon. Actually, not so ordinary, because in order for it to “work”, you need to remember one thing.

The red ribbon, apart from blending in perfectly with Christmas decorations, will guarantee good luck. This color has been a symbol of happiness and joy for centuries, and was sometimes attributed with protective properties – In particular regions of Poland, the red ribbon was supposed to protect against “charms”.

There should be eight knots in the red ribbon — it’s a lucky number. Such an item can be placed anywhere. If so, it can be successfully hung on it, just as it can be incorporated into a door decoration. The most important thing is that the ribbon is not hidden, e.g. in a drawer. Then its effect may potentially be weakened. The exact shade or width of the ribbon does not matter much, as long as it is red.

Of course, like all such superstitions, we should take them with a pinch of salt – they are an interesting part of our culture (and who knows, maybe they actually work), but they should not be taken for granted.
