Find out how much a Social Security employee receives for collecting debts

Edifício da Segurança Social.

The award of premiums to workers who collect Social Security debts will reach 1.93 million euros, a direct result of the increase in the amount recovered in 2024. According to the economic news portal ECO, this value exceeds that distributed in previous years, reflecting not only the goals achieved, but also the evolution of the justice rate charged.

Although the percentage allocated by the Government fell to 10% of the court fee charged, according to the same source, the overall premium increased because the total amount recovered was also higher.

Workers received 1.43 million in 2023, 1.44 million in 2022 and 1.29 million in 2021, values that are now below the premium defined for 2024.

Some receive 340 euros and others 500 euros

The publication adds that the distribution of bonuses follows the functions performed by each worker. Intermediate managers and senior technicians will receive 500 euros, while technical assistants will be entitled to 340 euros, a differentiation that has been maintained since the creation of the model.

Since 2019, there has been a mechanism that awards performance bonuses to workers involved in debt collection whenever the objectives defined in the Assessment and Accountability Framework are met. The same source states that this system aims to stimulate the recovery of missing values and reinforce the effectiveness of the State structures responsible for this function.

Information available in the Official Gazette

The diploma that governs the awards was published this Thursday in the Diário da República. It explains that, for 2024, the collection objective was set at 660 million euros, but the actual collection ended up reaching 759.08 million.

The justice fee charged last year was 19.37 million euros. According to the same source, it was on this amount that the Government determined the percentage allocated to premiums, now lower than the 13% applied in 2023 and 2022, but offset by the overall increase in recovered revenue.

System created by José Vieira da Silva

The model was created by former minister José Vieira da Silva, aligned with the system in force at the Tax and Customs Authority, where workers will be entitled this year to a bonus of 67.5 million euros, equivalent to 5% of coercive charges.
