The federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL) said, last Friday (5), that the choice of the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) so that his son “01”, the senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PL), compete for Planalto carries a request for “national pacification”.
“Bolsonaro chose Flávio for the next dispute. Some only look at the election… but those who feel Brazil know that there is something bigger at stake. This decision carries an urgent request for national pacification”, said Nikolas on X (formerly Twitter).
“The country can no longer bear living divided, families destroyed, innocent people behind bars while politics becomes a stage for persecution,” he continued.
The parliamentarian also asks that the choice help to “pave the way for amnesty” and for “unjustly imprisoned Brazilians to return home”.
“Today, more than ever, we are talking about freeing those who should never have lost their freedom,” he concluded.

The choice

As shown by CNN BrazilBolsonaro’s choice for his eldest son, faces resistance on the right and even in the former president’s family. Allies of former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL), for example, reject the sign. Furthermore, the choice would have caused discomfort among the politician’s old allies and within the PL itself.
Crisis in the Bolsonaro clan
Flávio’s choice of the former president comes amid a dispute within the Bolsonaro clan. The origin of the crisis occurred when the PL directory in Ceará decided to declare support for a possible candidacy by Ciro Gomes (PSDB).
The support, however, did not please all of Bolsonaro’s allies. On Sunday (30), Michelle Bolsonaro criticized the party’s stance in supporting Ciro.
The crisis reached its peak when the conflict became between Michelle and her husband’s children. The former first lady’s statements did not please her stepchildren, who publicly took a stance against her.
After the PL meeting, last Tuesday (2), the party suspended support for Ciro Gomes.
