In a protest that took place this Saturday (6), protesters threw a traditional English dessert towards the royal crown that is on display at the Tower of London, in England.
Police acted quickly to quell reports of “criminal damage” to the iconic landmark. The group of protesters spread apple crumble and custard, a type of apple cake with cream, around the glass dome that protects the jewelry.
Two of the activists, from a collective called Take Back Power, fled the scene after the protest, according to local authorities. Four people were arrested and are in police custody, according to The Sun.

A video shared by the group shows the action, while tourists watched the scene without understanding what was happening. One of the protesters even said that the act is to raise awareness about the need for care for homeless people.
The tourist attraction was closed to visitors so that the police could carry out the investigation alongside the security of the Tower of London.
The place houses the British imperial crown, which is used by the King in formal events. It contains the Cullian II diamond and St. Edward sapphire and symbolizes national sovereignty.
