The new network will have 50 interregional, 37 intercity, 122 municipal and seven urban lines and the current 25,000 passes will have to be replaced.
From 11pm on December 16th, the “Lines – Douro, Tâmega and Sousa Transport”, the new system that will profoundly reorganize mobility in 11 municipalities in the region.
Developed by the Tâmega e Sousa Intermunicipal Community (CIM-TS), the project creates an integrated networkwith unified ticketing and an enhanced transport offer, designed to make travel more efficient, economical and accessible.
According to Telmo Pinto, first secretary of the CIM, this is the first Transport Authority in the country to implement a joint ticketing systemsomething that he considers “a necessary challenge to better respond to the needs of the territory”. The initial phase begins during the school holidays, allowing any transition constraints to be resolved.
With the new model, all current 25 thousand passes will have to be replaced. The new titles for January 2026 will begin to be issued next week, in a process that could “take some time”, but with the guarantee that no passenger will be harmed, assures Telmo Pinto.

Four road operators now work in a coordinated manner. The fleet includes 250 renewed vehicles and more than three thousand new stops, equipped with QR Codes that link directly to the timetables on the official website, says .
The new tariff introduces the “Três Rios” card, available in several modalities: the Duas Zonas pass will cost 20 euros, the Municipal 30 euros, the Intermunicipal and Inter-regional 40 euros and the Três Rios & Andante 50 euros, allowing also travel in the Porto Metropolitan Areaincluding STCP and Metro.
With an annual investment of 15.5 million euros, the system will be financed in equal parts between users and public policies. For CIM-TS, this is a decisive step towards reducing car use and modernizing regional mobility.
