President of Ukraine Zelenskyy discussed the peace terms with American representatives. Negotiations continue in Florida to eliminate the risk of Russian escalation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke on the phone with US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Saturday. He described the conversation as “long and substantial”, and they agreed with the American side on the next steps and the format of further negotiations. According to him, Ukraine is determined to continue cooperation with the American side in order to achieve real peace. He informed about it on the X social network, writes TASR.
“We addressed many aspects and discussed key points that could ensure an end to the bloodshed and eliminate the threat of a new Russian full-scale invasion, as well as the risk that Russia will not keep its promises, as has happened repeatedly in the past,” he wrote.

Chief Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov also joined the call. Both are in Florida, where they are in the third day of negotiations with Kushner and Witkoff. Zelensky wants to meet with them in the near future to discuss the progress of the negotiations, as it is not possible to talk about several topics over the phone.
A statement released by the US State Department overnight on Saturday said both sides of the talks agreed that real progress towards any peace deal “depends on Russia’s willingness to demonstrate genuine interest in a lasting peace, including steps to de-escalate and stop the killing”.
